Sounds Of Skyrim Compatibility Patch
Hello Reddit. This is another shameless request for technical assistance. But there's also a moral to the story, I think, if you have the patience.
Okay, lets see, here's the Load Order in question, as it stands today: http://pastebin.com/W4riTh32
Problem(s): Lots of little stuff not coming together eg. Magnum BFR scope, Entering Doc Mitchel's house = crash, odd balancing issues, some PN functions wonky (perks/level).. but mainly, now, overall whole-game crash-happy and load-averse behaviour :p
Textures looking awesome.
Ive posted to Nexus Forums http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1244561-fook-project-nevada-convergence/?view=getnewpost (see boy_cad) and had a response from drithius, which was nice. But I still dont know what I'm doing.
Ok that's the sticky part. Now I can ramble.

Doing the convergence project is a little insane, from a mod-player point of view, isn't it? Did I just bite off more than I can chew? There's, like 20 odd patches and cross patches in the cannon, but then we add in some apocryphals, and it gets harder. Not all of the patches are discussed explicitly in the FOOK-PN-WMX-WME-AWOP-EVE descriptions (which I read diligently btw, no small feat), and then theres something like Mission Mojave, which itself talks about Convergence, but Convergence doesn't talk about it, so where do I put them, and more importantly, which patches do I need from whom, and which will be double-ups causing snags? (inhale)
Skipping over some of the lesser bumps (the 'all dlc.esp' bump was especially rough) along the way, we arrive at this dearth of information surrounding the tools us amateur noobs are supposed to use, have to use. Toto, I dont think were in Skyrim anymore. There are 5 (five) potential tools at hand: NMM, FOMod, WryeFlash, FNVEdit, LOOT, BOSS. I keep googling, but I don't find so much. Yes, I do my best with appropriate instructions / read-me's. I have ended up putting some time with the trial-and-error method, rather than finding an instruction set I can follow for my actual problem. Of course, it should be noted, that using several different tools, some of the problems are from how they interact with each other.
Gopher has a nice tutorial for fnvedit, but its old, and actually pretty limited. All he seems to do is build a merge patch. I've been doing this with WryFlash, though, and there seems to be waymore control with that tool. But then (and yes, again, Ive done my best with the instructions at hand) Im not too sure what to do with this control. Once again, my system is reduced to trial-and-error: I tinker with the load order, re-build the patch, choosing some settings and not others, play the game, get bounced, return to start.
I mean, usually when I'm this lost on the obverse side of code, like this, its because I'm either doing something basic wrong, or because its just time for a full rebuild and a paring of ambitions. So it could be that.
But, I have lots and lots of questions. For example: merge vs. bash: same thing? Wrye flash gives lots of options when merging (FormID's, etc).. should I be checking them, and why (I do, now, cuz it seemed to help)? FNVEdit gives none.
So I have lots of technical questions and would love to get my game running again. Did I mention its a really cool game? Love the game. yup. But I'd also like to know whats going on, a little, and maybe what I've done wrong.
But I guess my real question is, when I say 'Code of Silence', I mean no modder seems willing to say: 'In my experience, this is good for this, but not that'. I have asked. Is this just to avoid offending other volunteers or being banned from Nexus and such sundry concerns, or am I paranoid? Well, I came here just in case.
For example, I still haven't seen it said clearly that LOOT will not order FNV mods correctly, especially if you are using complicated cross-patched batches. In fact, it'll mess up your load order, which will then have to be manually re-set, because BOSS doesn't really work very well either (or does it?).
Sorry if I seem like a lunatic. A few words of well-informed guidance would be appreciated (eg. 'Re-Install everything, you boob!' followed by an explanation, please)
One more thing: A definitive, graphically literate and well written read-me document, oriented towards the attentive mod-player, and applying to this whole phylum of FNV mods (nee FOOK-PN) would be rilly helpful. Something with links and charts and update-able by individual family authors, but one (1) document. So, I'm offering on that, god help me. If any of the mod authors want to pm me, I think I can help with that.
